history

Channel K is a rock band from HoustonTexas.

The early concept for the band emerged in 2010. Prior to this, founding member Ken Sarmiento established himself as a fixture in the Houston live music scene as the guitarist/keyboardist for Phuz, a Houston group known for touring with Sade and India.Arie.

Channel K released a three-song EP titled Human Beings in 2012.  However, there wasn't an official full band until in 2013 featuring Cynthia Leal (vocals) and Rick Mendez (guitars). In addition, Bryan Murillo and Edwin Casapao provided the rhythm section.  Raul Sarmiento eventually joined to provide bass duties.

Channel K has played various well respected live venues in Houston.  Among some of these venues were Jet Lounge, House of Blues, Notsuoh, and Warehouse Live. The band has also performed in showcases at South by Southwest in AustinTexas in 2016 and 2017.

The quartet released their second EP, Super Queen, on July 14, 2017.
